Hendrik Dettmer

I am an IT security consultant at TÜV TRUST IT in Cologne. This is where I keep the work from my university years and early career: attacks on RFID chips, smartcard cryptography, anonymous signature schemes.

Before that I was at SRC GmbH in Bonn, then at Wincor Nixdorf. The content on this page comes from my student days and early career – for a long time it said here that I would never finish this site.

Profile

I am an IT security consultant based in Cologne, Germany. I studied IT security at Ruhr University Bochum, where my work ranged from VHDL implementations of the A5/1 and SAFER ciphers and an assembler implementation of IDEA on a smartcard to a software toolkit for practical attacks on RFID devices. My diploma thesis on anonymous signature schemes in public key infrastructures using dynamic cryptographic accumulators received fourth place in the CAST IT Security Award 2009.

Since 2017 I have worked at TÜV TRUST IT in Cologne, where I set up a Common Criteria evaluation laboratory for IT security products in Malaysia. Before that I worked as a security consultant at SRC GmbH in Bonn and at Wincor Nixdorf.

My work spans risk-based security assessments, regulatory alignment and the practical application of cryptographic principles to real-world problems. I help organizations make their security measures not only technically sound, but also appropriate, effective and well documented – with a keen eye for clear terminology, structured annexes and verifiable suitability.

I am particularly interested in secure architectures, crypto-driven solutions, and in making IT security more robust and understandable.
